What is waterfall enrichment?

Waterfall enrichment is a data enrichment method that queries several data providers in sequence to find a contact's email address, phone number, job title or company details. When the first provider returns nothing, the request passes to the next, and so on down the list, so the combined providers can fill gaps that any single source would leave.

How does waterfall enrichment work?

You submit a record, such as a name and a company. The system asks the first provider for the missing field and, if that provider has no answer, asks the next one, continuing until the field is found or the providers run out. Many setups also verify the result, for example by checking that an email address is deliverable.

Why use waterfall enrichment instead of a single data provider?

Providers differ in which companies, regions and roles they cover well, so querying several in sequence fills gaps that one provider leaves. Most waterfalls stop at the first match, which means later providers are called only when earlier ones miss.

What data can waterfall enrichment find?

The most common fields are work email addresses, mobile and direct phone numbers, job titles, and company details such as industry, size and location. Some waterfalls also return social profile links and technology data.
