What is account intelligence?

Account intelligence is the organized, current knowledge a revenue team holds about a single target company: its financial position, leadership, technology stack, strategic priorities, buying committee and recent events. Sellers and marketers use it to decide which accounts to pursue, who to contact inside each one, and what to say that is specific to that business.

What does account intelligence include?

It typically covers firmographics such as size, industry and location; financial signals such as funding and earnings; the leadership team and the wider buying committee; the technology the company runs; and events such as hiring, expansion or a change in strategy. Its value comes from being kept current and tied to one specific account.

How is account intelligence different from account research?

Account research is the activity of investigating a company. Account intelligence is the organized result, kept current and shared across the team, so marketing, sales and customer success all work from the same picture of the account and nobody repeats the research.

How do sales teams use account intelligence?

They use it to prioritize which accounts to work, to map the people who influence a purchase, to write outreach that refers to the account's real situation, and to prepare for meetings. It matters most in account-based selling, where a small number of high-value accounts each get tailored attention.
