What is a go-to-market system?

A go-to-market system, or GTM system, is the connected set of data, tools, processes and people a company uses to find, reach, win and grow customers. It links targeting, signals, enrichment, content, outreach and reporting so each stage passes context to the next, which makes pipeline repeatable and measurable from one quarter to the next.

What are the parts of a GTM system?

A typical GTM system has a definition of the ideal customer, a source of accounts and contacts, signals that show who is ready to buy, enrichment that fills in contact details, content and outreach across channels, and reporting that ties activity to pipeline. The parts become a system when they share data.

How is a GTM system different from a GTM strategy?

A GTM strategy decides which market to serve, with what offer, at what price and through which channels. A GTM system is the working machinery that carries out that strategy every day. A strategy with no system behind it depends on individual effort, which makes its results hard to repeat.

Does GTM system mean Google Tag Manager?

In sales and marketing, GTM usually stands for go-to-market. Google Tag Manager is also abbreviated GTM, and it is a tool for managing website tracking tags. A GTM system in the go-to-market sense is the connected setup a company uses to generate and convert pipeline.
